This is an amazing story of many families lives during the depression. It was so well written that I morphed right into the Kennedy Family. Being raised on a farm myself I related to so much of the hardships of farm life and the need to put food on the table. I can't imagine doing it without indoor plumbing, running water and electricity though. Even though the Kennedy family was poor, they were rich and lived a rich life. My fondest memories of living on the farm was all the hard work we had to do as young children; working in the fields, gardening, canning, picking berries etc. The antics that the boys got involved in on a daily basis was priceless. They had to be creative and innovative. They had no toys. This is a book that every child should read. We've always heard of the Great Depression however, reading this book, you live it and feel it with each page that you turn. -- Cindy Philbrick
