Fragments of Memory: From Kolin to Jerusalem, Hana Greenfield
8 Hana Greenfield Fragments of Memory: From Kolin to Jerusalem
Gefen 1990 9652290580 / 9789652290588 Soft Cover Used - Very Good
No marks or writing observed in text. Binding tight and square. Gently read if at all. . . . . . . . . . 'This is a short and powerful book and one gets the feeling that like Primo Levi Hana Greenfield felt compelled to write. This book is very readable and anyone interested in Jewish, holocaust and WW2, and Israeli history, will find this book fascinating, The feeling one gets from personal experience actually explains far more that what we get from history books and great historians. Theresienstadt is known for the literature and music that came from the inmates of the terrible camp but Yom Kippur story of the death of these children is new to me. Book tells of the childhood in Czechoslovakia an ideal country till the death of Tomas Masaryk, We know that the town Lidici completely destroyed as a result of Reinhardt's assassination but not that it immediately caused the extermination of Czech Jewry by the Nazis and how the writer survived slave labour and Auschwitz. Then the authors research and connecting to the survivors of Kolin and Czech Jewry. In today's world of a new resurgence of antisemitism in Europe this book is well worth reading.' -- Ronfeld
